Edit a Route While It's In Progress
Whether you can edit a route while it's in progress depends on the type of route you're using.
When You Can't Edit a Route
If you're using a Calendar Scheduled Route, the route cannot be edited once it is in progress. This includes:
- Adding or removing sites
- Reordering stops
- Making other route changes
If you need to communicate a change to your crew while the route is in progress, you can use the Messaging feature to send them an update.
When You Can Edit a Route
If you're using a Standard Route or a Dispatch Route, the route can be edited while it is in progress. This includes:
- Adding or removing sites
- Reordering stops
- Updating route details
Any changes you make are updated in real time in the crew's mobile app. No additional action is required.
Standard Routes vs. Dispatch Routes
Standard Routes
A Standard Route is typically created during your pre-season planning. It's assigned to crews, subcontractors, or both, and is intended to be used repeatedly throughout the season.
Standard Routes remain available and can be edited at any time, including while they are in progress.
Dispatch Routes
A Dispatch Route is designed for one-time work, such as special service requests or unexpected jobs. These routes are created on demand and have a specific start time. They are visible in the mobile app for up to 18 hours before expiring.
Like Standard Routes, Dispatch Routes can also be edited while they are in progress.
Note: If you create a route from the Calendar, it becomes a Calendar Scheduled Route, which cannot be edited once work has started.
How to Edit a Route
To update an existing Standard or Dispatch Route:
- Open the route.
- Click the pencil icon.
- Make your changes in the Route Builder.
- Save your changes.
The updates will sync to the crew's mobile app automatically in real time.
