8. How to Create Routes from Work Plans in Yeti 4.0

This article explains how to build, optimize, assign, and deploy route operations in Yeti 4.0, from grouping work plans to triggering live jobs for field crews.

Overview

Routes in Yeti 4.0 are ordered lists of stops that crews perform in the field. By grouping individual work plans into routes, dispatchers can optimize drive times, assign work to specific operators or subcontractors, and deploy work on demand or via automated schedules.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Access the Routes Directory

  1. Log in to your Yeti 4.0 account.
  2. From the left sidebar menu, click Operations and select Routes.
  3. Click the + Add route button on the top right to start a new route.

Step 2: Enter Basic Route Details

  1. Name: Enter a clear name for the route (e.g., Calgary Plow Route).
  2. Name for Operator: (Optional) Customize the name visible to field crews in the mobile app.
  3. Season: Select a seasonal filter (e.g., Cold, All year).

Note: Selecting a specific season hides the route in the mobile app when outside of that active season.

  4. Estimated Hours: (Optional) Enter expected hours needed to complete the route (e.g., 2.5).

Step 3: Add and Order Work Plans

  1. Click the + Add work button.
  2. Search or filter work plans by client, site, service, or trigger type.
  3. Check the boxes next to the work plans you want to group together and click Add.
  4. Reorder Stops:
    • Manual Drag: Click and drag stops up or down to customize the stop order.
    • Optimise Order: Click the Optimise order button to automatically resequence the stops for the shortest drive time.

Step 4: Configure Automatic Dispatch (Optional)

  1. Scroll down to Schedule automatic dispatch.
  2. If any job on the route operates on a scheduled trigger, click Set a time to automatically dispatch the route without requiring manual action.

Step 5: Assign Operators and Subcontractors

Under the Crew section, define who can perform the route:

  • Everyone at company: Allows any logged-in team member to view and perform the route in the mobile app.
  • Only selected people: Restricts visibility so only specified operators can view and run the route.
  • Subcontractors: Check eligible subcontractor companies permitted to view and service the route.

Step 6: Review Instructions & Save

  1. Instructions: Review the combined instructions compiled from all selected work plans.

Note: To edit individual site instructions, update the underlying work plan or contract commitment.

  2. Internal Notes: (Optional) Enter private office-only notes.
  3. Tags: Apply company tags (e.g., Calgary, Park County) to filter routes in reporting.
  4. Click Create Route to save.

Step 7: Deploy Route Work (Fire GO)

  1. On the Routes page, locate your saved route.
  2. Click the GO button in the Actions column.
  3. Select Now to fire the jobs out immediately, or select Later to schedule a future start date/time.
  4. Click Fire GO to send the jobs directly to field crews' mobile apps.

Note: Crews can also manually start a route in the mobile app before the GO button is pressed.

Post-Dispatch & Approvals

Once a route is dispatched, live progress can be tracked from the Dispatch page. After crews complete their assigned stops, office administrators can review performance records and approve completed runs.
